Leadership CTAT


Leadership CTAT is a training program designed to provide members with an in-depth understanding of how the CTAT operates and how they can become effective leaders within the organization. 

Leadership CTAT Program Overview:

This comprehensive training equips participants to lead CTAT in its mission as the leading advocate supporting CTE programs and the professionals who lead them.

  • Governance: Explore CTAT's strategic plan, governance structure, committees, and operations, with an introduction to the CTAT staff.
  • Financial Management: Understand CTAT’s financial practices, reporting requirements, and risk management strategies to maintain operational stability.
  • Advocacy: Learn about CTAT's advocacy efforts and partnerships that influence state policy, with expert guidance on effective individual contributions.
  • Volunteer Leadership: Discover the keys to successful volunteer leadership through insights from officers, directors, and area presidents.
  • Conferences and Events: Get a behind-the-scenes look at conference planning, from site selection to agenda development, and learn how to contribute content and support new attendees.
  • Marketing and Member Engagement: Dive into CTAT's marketing strategies and communication platforms, with tips for engaging members statewide.
  • Reflection and Goal Setting: Reflect on personal goals and motivations in leadership, with opportunities for networking, cohort meetings, and interactive events.

This comprehensive training equips participants to lead CTAT in its mission to support public education and workforce development across Texas.

Key Dates & Details: 

Participation in Leadership CTAT is free, but registration is requiredAttendance at all sessions is required to earn a certificate of completion.

Zoom meetings will take place January through May on the 3rd Thursday of the month (except for March) from 10am - 11am.

  • March 27, 2025 - 10:00am - 11:00am
  • April 17, 2025 - 10:00am - 11:00am
  • May 15, 2025 - 10:00am - 11:00am

Deadline to register: January 10, 2025

Eligibility requirements:

  • CTAT Membership: Must have been an active member of CTAT for a minimum of 3 years. Membership must be in good standing at the time of application.
  • Professional Experience: At least 3 years of experience in career and technical education or a related field. Current engagement in a role directly related to CTE, workforce development, or public education.
  • Demonstrated Interest in Leadership: Past involvement in CTAT activities, such as attending conferences, participating in committees, or supporting area-level events. A letter of interest detailing why the applicant wants to participate and how they envision contributing to CTAT’s mission.
  • Support from Employer: A letter of endorsement from the participant’s supervisor or employer, confirming support for their involvement in the program (e.g., time off for meetings).
  • Commitment to Full Participation: Willingness to attend all sessions and complete program requirements, including participation in discussions, reflections, and goal-setting activities.
  • Leadership Potential: Open to emerging leaders or those already serving in volunteer or leadership roles within CTAT or their local education community.
